Poverty and Climate change in Mexico.
The implications of mitigation policy, climate impacts and development pathways for household welfare

Project financed by USAID through its PEER Program (National Academy of Science USA).

This proposal examines the combined implications of climate impacts and mitigation policy for poor households, through their effects on agriculture and energy in Mexico.
  • Analyze food and energy consumption patterns for different demographic groups and how they have changed over the past decades
  • Develop socio-economic scenarios for Mexico, within the global context of the iPETS model.
  • Examine the role of future climate change in shaping agricultural impacts on poor households in Mexico.
  • Develop GHG emission scenarios comparable to the two climate scenarios (RCPs) to examine climate policy impacts on low-income households.
